Back to Normal - Sort Of

Delays at Airports in UK Win Hotels

They were sleeping in cots on floors and washing themselves in bathrooms. The skies were closed and passengers became refugees. There has never been anything like it before. Those who could afford it took hotel rooms while most just tried to survive in the confines of the airline terminals.

Europe was closed down it seemed trains and ferries could not move people fast enough to where they needed to go. All this had a reeling effect on almost everything else in the economy on the continent and everywhere else in the world. The numbers were staggering, billions and billions of dollars lost by the airlines and by tourist related industries. Hotels like accommodation amsterdam and taxi businesses across Europe were forced to temporarily lay off workers as passengers didn’t arrive to use hotels or taxis. Now we are told that the skies have been opened once more and things should be getting back to normal.

Flying for anybody has been anything but normal for a long time. Nobody could have imagined that things could be any worse than the “normal” flying experience. What used to be a very pleasant experience has become a nightmare in the best of times. We all know and dread the crazy routine of the taking off of shoes and pat down that almost all of us need to go thru. The long lines to security and special security lines for those of us that looks especially suspicious.  If you are unfortunate enough to have to travel with children your nightmare is even greater as all the shoes must come off and then all the shoes must go back on. Because there is no racial profiling small children are as suspect as a twenty five year old Moslem looking man. Complete insanity.

Nobody thought it could get worse.

The volcano proved them wrong.
