Public Speaking with Confidence is Music to the Ears with Performance in Business

Public speaking can make grown men and women alike quiver in absolute terror. Presentation Skills can make or break your company image. So it is imperative that whoever takes to the “corporate stage” does so confidently and performs to the best of their ability.

Dan Luxon of Performance in Business, specialises in helping business people and individuals overcome the fear of speaking in public by teaching the practical physical and vocal techniques used by opera singers and actors to command the stage. His unique “4 cornerstones of performance” develops all the skills and confidence an individual needs; and with outstanding results.

Dan has a way with words; in fact he often sings them to deliver his message. Never has corporate coaching sounded so good.

Dan is the owner of Clarity Business Management Ltd, a consultative company dedicated to helping growing businesses become more profitable. Dan also owns and runs Rhapsody Opera an operatically orientated events company that performs innovative shows for clubs, corporate companies and in theatres. Dan has held executive positions in some of the UK’s largest advertising agencies and publishing companies and is the son of Benjamin Luxon CBE one of the most renowned international baritones of the 20th century.

Dan was born with the stage firmly under his feet and alongside his notable business achievements has also enjoyed a professional career as an opera singer; performing roles such as: Rodolfo in La Boheme; Tamino in The Magic Flute and Don Jose in Bizet’s Carmen, singing in venues large and small from the Albert Hall and Barbican to theatres, clubs, churches and living rooms around the UK and abroad. Dan also Directs Opera to great acclaim.

Performance in Business is the logical culmination of this vast array of business and artistic acumen.
Luxon says “A few years ago I was at a seminar of senior executives in Watford. We each had to get up and introduce ourselves, our expertise and competencies. I was so appalled by the inability of most in the room to do this that I determined to teach some basic singing techniques to any that wanted to learn how to get over the anxiety that standing up in front of a crowd can cause. Over the years I have added other dramatic techniques used on the stage and it is truly astonishing the effect that learning these has on any, particularly those in business, that go on to use them”.

So began the development of Dan’s corporate coaching with a twist.

Many people find themselves in a situation either in their business life or personal life where they have to speak in public. They do not have the performance techniques to do this and consequently they do not perform anywhere near their ability. They also suffer a great deal of unnecessary anxiety along the way. It is Dan’s belief that with the right training and perhaps a step away from conventional methods, everyone can become a convincing and confident public speaker.

Dan works with any who are concerned about speaking in public or who lack confidence or presence. He teaches practical performance techniques that transform people. This can be for a presentation, a business meeting or a networking event or even to prepare the groom for smooth delivery of his wedding speech.

Dan believes that where there are a number of business people gathered together, there is always opportunity for the sharing of ideas and the education of all. There is also ample opportunity for dreary presentation on stuffy topics delivered by jaded or inexperienced presenters. What Performance and Business delivers is a whole new way of thinking about how to make the most of your content delivery and how to keep your audience interested.
“Whoever you are, whatever your function at work you can always perform better in terms of speaking in front of a crowd” adds Dan.

“Many are so frightened of making a fool of themselves they bury their heads in the sand, do nothing to prepare themselves and guarantee at best a weak and limp presentation; at worst – wholesale embarrassment. And it is totally unnecessary. By learning some basic physical techniques you can overcome anxiety and present to the world a confident charismatic delivery – however you feel inside”.

Dan’s approach is to educate and entertain. The techniques he teaches are absolutely practical and come with this warning:

Whether you like it or not you will perform and you will do it well!
